As a natural slate, variation in colour and texture should be expected. The thickness of the tiles may also vary due to the way slate naturally cleaves when split by chisel.

You may also find chipped edges that taper slightly inwards. Tiles should therefore be installed with the larger surface area facing upwards. When laid, these features create an uneven, rustic finish reminiscent of traditional aged slate floors.

Due to the porous nature of this material, sealing is required before and after installation to protect the surface and assist with ongoing maintenance.
