Stone Effect Porcelain Floor Tiles – Cheltenham Project | Quatro Tiles Monmouth

Project Overview

For this project in Cheltenham, the client wanted a flooring solution that would complement their bright, open-plan home while offering durability for everyday family life. They selected Mediterranea Dor 60×90cm porcelain tiles, a beautifully textured porcelain inspired by natural stone.

The result is a warm and elegant floor that flows seamlessly through the entrance hall and kitchen, enhancing the natural light and architectural features of the property.

The Brief

The homeowners were looking for a tile that would:

• Work throughout the hallway and kitchen

• Complement the natural wood staircase and cabinetry

• Provide a hard-wearing, low-maintenance floor

• Create a timeless, neutral base for the interior design

With large windows and a striking vaulted entrance, the flooring needed to feel calm, spacious and understated while still adding character.

Tile Selection

The Mediterranea Dor porcelain tile in a 60×90cm format proved to be the perfect choice for this space.

Key features include:

• Natural stone-inspired texture

• Warm neutral tones that complement wood and painted cabinetry

• A large format size that creates a more seamless and open appearance

• Durable porcelain suitable for high-traffic living areas

The subtle tonal variation within the tile adds natural character while maintaining a refined, contemporary look.

Installation

The tiles were installed in a staggered (brick bond) layout, which works particularly well with rectangular large-format tiles. This layout introduces subtle movement across the floor while maintaining a balanced and timeless aesthetic.

Careful planning ensured:

• Consistent grout joints across the open spaces

• Clean alignment through the hallway and kitchen areas

• Precise cuts around the staircase and doorways

The large format tiles help emphasise the scale and height of the entrance space, particularly beneath the impressive vaulted window.

The Finished Result

The finished floor provides a beautiful foundation for the home's interior. The warm stone tones of the Mediterranea Dor tiles complement the natural wood details and sage-toned kitchen island perfectly.

With sunlight pouring through the large windows, the subtle texture of the porcelain surface creates depth and interest throughout the space.

Even the family dog seems to approve of the new floor.
